How to post on Facebook

Facebook is one of the most valuable tools in the marketing world today, but only if you use it correctly. Many business owners struggle to create success with their page and decide that it’s not for them. But before you give up and leave your page to die a slow death it’s worth understanding some fundaments and while Facebook is worth persevering with.

“A good tradesman never blames his tools” so you’ll need to learn how to use Facebook well to make it work for your business. It could turn out to be the perfect platform for your business, but you won’t know until you give it a good try. That being said, making the best use of it to attract followers AND turn them into sales, is a challenge. Getting your audience to engage can be difficult, getting them to purchase even harder.

You may find that attracting a decent number of followers is the easy part, getting them to engage, is another matter. However if you can encourage them to engage, comment and share, you can up your Facebook success.

Growing your Success

Whenever you post on your business page, always think about getting your audience to engage. You need to ask yourself how they can respond to what you post. For example, if you ask an open question or set up a poll, they will feel encouraged to answer. You can choose both casual and more serious questions to ask. It’s essential not to stick to text posts alone. Photos and videos are much more engaging and will help your posts to be seen on people’s timelines. It’s not just what you post, though; your tone also matters. Make sure you’re striking the right balance between friendly and professional.

Growing your Followers

Before your audience can engage, you need an audience. Growing your followers will give you a better chance for users to engage. As you grow your followers look at all your options – free and paid options. If you want to use part of your marketing budget, you have the option to promote posts and/or run full Advertising campaigns. Facebook Ads have developed tools to allow you to reach a far wider audience and even create ‘look-alike’ audiences to match your current followers.

Aside from the capability of Facebook Ads, the cost per click is very low. Conversions are cheap and you may find the Ads are a perfect way to promote your business. However, if your budget is tight, consider the traditional method of connecting with other business owners pages. You may ask permission or build trust with them enough that they allow you to post regularly on their Page to their audience. Their followers will ‘Like’ and share your posts, this will allow you to grow your ‘reach’ to a much wider audience.

The content you choose to share has a huge impact on your follower count. If you can encourage people to share organically, you will reach more people over time. Where appropriate include a call to action on the post, e.g. ‘Subscribe to Download our Ebook’.

Developing Trust

The internet is often a dark place, scammers are everywhere. So people can be wary of engaging with a new brand. It’s essential to grow and nurture your audience trust. Firstly, show your knowledge of your industry, not in a ‘pushy’ way but by sharing tips and new features. Make sure you engage with them by responding to reviews, both for good or bad reviews. You can also show your audience that you have a team of real people by posting photos from your office or giving them some fun facts. Not only will you grow the trust of your followers but you’ll be building your ‘Trust Flow’ with Google, especially if you’ve linked your Facebook page to your website.

Improving Sales Conversions

Using the above tactics and strategic methods in planning campaigns for Facebook advertising will see Sales conversions. Keeping up with your audience needs and ensuring your posts are informative, interesting, funny, helpful etc, will help you harness the power of Facebook to boost your sales. Offering discounts and special deals to your Facebook users will help you to engage with your audience – give them something they can relate to and/or need.
